Homeless camp shooting in Oakland leaves man wounded OAKLAND — A 37-year-old man was shot Thursday morning at a homeless camp in East Oakland, authorities said.The man was in stable condition at a hospital where he was being treated for a leg wound.The shooting happened about 8:13 a.m. Thursday at a camp in the 3700 block of East 8th Street.Police did not immediately say if the man shot lived at the camp or was visiting someone there.He apparently got into a dispute of some kind with another man at the camp and was shot, authorities said.  The shooter fled before police got to the camp.Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.

After monthlong manhunt, suspect arrested in fatal shooting outside Concord shopping center MARTINEZ — A month after Concord police identified him as the shooter in a March homicide, a 20-year-old man was arrested on murder charges and booked in a Contra Costa jail, court records show.Sione Amanaki, of Concord, was arrested April 16 on charges that he killed 21-year-old Eric William Cavazos. Amanaki was arraigned May 10, where a judge revoked his bail, according to court records.Amanaki and his co-defendant, 19-year-old Haley Sparks-Hadsell, of Martinez are both charged with killing and robbing Cavazos on March 21 during a brief altercation outside a shoe store in the Solano Plaza shopping center, located at Solano Way and Broadmoor Avenue. Crews begin work on washed-out portion of US 285 MORRISON, Colo. (KDVR) — Specialty crews contracted by the Colorado Department of Transportation are starting temporary fixes on U.S. 285 where repeated rain washed out part of the highway into a steep embankment.This section of the highway is U.S. 285 northbound, just north of Parmalee Gulch. It is built on a large embankment, where rock and soil material was filled in to bring the highway up out of the bottom of the canyon and make room for four lanes of traffic. Storms could cause minor flooding in flood-prone areas due to their high rainfall rate and slow-moving nature.
