State police reopened security checkpoints onto the Esplanade Tuesday afternoon, hours after temporarily closing gates due to the risk of heavy rain and lighting and hours before this year’s Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular is scheduled to begin.Gates opened for the Fireworks Spectacular at 12 p.m. to a rush of attendees. In an update around 2:30 p.m., state police announced they were temporarily suspending entry onto the Esplanade.A state police spokesperson said visitors already on the Esplanade had the option to voluntarily evacuate if they wanted to, with the option to be re-screened for re-admittance later in the day.“This is being done so that if we do have to evacuate the venue in case of lightning, fewer visitors will have to be evacuated,” state police said of the decision to temporarily suspend entry. New video shared with 7NEWS shows the crash that sent a car smashing into a bar in Laconia, New Hampshire over the weekend. The crash happened on Sunday afternoon near the Looney Bin Bar & Grill off Endicott Street. In surveillance video, a car can be seen pulling out of a lot across the street into a lane of traffic. The car hits an oncoming car, sending it slamming into the Looney Bin Bar & Grill building. The impact sent 14 people to the hospital, officials said. Two of the patients who were transported had significant lower leg injuries, while the others had lacerations. BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Objections have been raised to demolishing the house where four University of Idaho students were killed last year, with members of three of the victims’ families signaling it should be preserved until after the trial of the man charged in the deaths. Shanon Gray, an attorney for the family of Kaylee Goncalves, one of the stabbing victims, said the university is disregarding families’ requests that the home be left standing until after the trial of Bryan Kohberger, which is set to begin in October, the Idaho Statesman reported. The bodies of Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were found last Nov. 13 at the rental home across the street from the University of Idaho campus.
