GARY, Ind. — An investigation is underway on Saturday after a 2-year-old was fatally shot by his three-year-old brother in Northwest Indiana on Friday night, police said.Gary police say officers were called to the Northlake Methodist Hospital around 8:30 p.m. on Friday night after reports that a child had been shot.According to police, the mother of the children told officers that her 3-year-old son was in her bedroom when he found a gun in her purse and shot his younger brother. TAYLOR, Texas (KXAN) — After nearly a year of discussion, votes and a petition, the Taylor City Council has indicated it will put the matter of raising council member compensation before voters in May.In August, council members voted 3-2 to increase council member's compensation to $500 for every meeting they attend and $750 for every meeting the mayor attends. Previous outlooks, issued mid-October, pointed to reasonably good odds of a wetter-than-normal season ahead thanks to a strong El Niño. Police are searching for a hit-and-run suspect who left a woman in critical condition after striking her in South Los Angeles.The crash happened on Aug. 5, when a pedestrian was crossing Figueroa Street at 82nd Street around 9 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.The suspect, who was driving a dark-colored sedan, struck the woman as she was walking, leaving her severely injured.Surveillance images show the suspect stopped the car and ran out to look at the injured woman before running back to his car and driving away.Police are searching for a hit-and-run suspect who left a woman in critical condition after a crash in South Los Angeles on Aug. 5, 2023.
